About

The featured image is a painting in progress by Eva (Mandy) Ivey, a former student. Mandy is a medical student in Galveston. Other art by Mandy may be found at Karcasstic Art on Facebook.

Her piece refers to the legend of Our Lady’s Bug dating from the Middle Ages. A rural community’s crops were being eaten by insects. The community prayed to Mother Mary for intervention, resulting in a horde of ladybugs who came and saved their crops by eating the insects. Thus resulted the ladybugs’ name.

Since all Christians are works in progress, I felt this image portrays my goals for my blog well. I am a former English teacher of 34 years. I continue to work part-time as a church organist and pianist.

I became an unwed mother at 28 due to my own rebellious nature. God has answered my prayers of repentance  and blessed me and my family in spite of my selfishness. Romans 8:28 “For all things work for good to those who love the Lord and are called according to His purpose.” I am constantly amazed at His mercies. I hope Mandy’s image and my posts bless you in some small way!
